El Tahadeyat:
Man illa einayki ya sayedati, kaad sabaqoni.
Yehmelon al shams fe rahatihim.
Wa akoodan al yasamin.
Atahada kol man ashartihim,
Min majanin wa atfal, wa mafkodin fe bahr al hanin.
An yeheboki be eslobi, wa tayshi, wa jenooni.
Atahadaki ana an tajidi watanan mithla fami.
Wa sariran dafiaan, mithla eioni.
Enani askono fel hob.
Fa ma min koblatin okhizat aw ateyat.
Layasali feha helolon aw hezor.

Fakarai qodam awraq el hawa.
Tajidinini daiman bayna el sotor.
Atahada kol oshaqik ya sayedati,
Atahadahom jamian.
An yahoto laki maktobo hawan.
Ka ma katibi gharami.
Wa yajihoki ala kasratihim.
Be herofin ka herofi, wa kalamin ka kalami.

An yakono katratan soghra bi bahri.
Aw yakono atfao, amaraho
Mithlama atfaqto fe einayki omri.
Atahadaki ana an tajidi ashikan mithli,
Wa asran dahabeyan, mithla asri.
Farhali, hay thotoridi.
Erhali, hay thotoridi.
Wa adhaki wa abki.
Fa ana arifo an lan tajidi,
Mawtinan fi tanamin ka sadri.
Translation:
I challenge
All those who beat me to your eyes.
Those who can carry the sun without effort,
And with their rosey promises.
I challenge all of those that you have befriended.
From the children to the madmen,
and they that are lost in the sea of tenderness.
To love you in my manner,
with my rashness and my madness.
I challenege you to find a home like my mouth.
Or a bed as warm as my eyes.
For your love is my existance.
So what of those kisses you gave and recieved?
They had no purpose at all.
